On this program we look back at late Scottish guitarist and songwriter Bert Jansch and his 1977 album A Rare Conundrum.
Coming off two solo albums recorded in California in the mid 70s, Bert returned to England and assembled a band to interpret new original songs alongside traditional tunes.
We’ll hear from the musicians on the Rare Conundrum album about the recording sessions and Bert’s legacy, including:
Rod Clements of Lindisfarne who later joined a reformed Pentangle, who played bass, mandolin and guitar and was a producer on the album.
Mike Piggott, who played violin and later joined Pentangle as well.
Drummer Pick Withers, later a co-founder of Dire Straights
And songwriter Ralph McTell who contributed harmonica.
